and lo, it was the weekend

I’ve jumped from one Sunday to the next, with a week full of busyness to show for it. But that mostly involves work, and who needs to hear about that at the weekend? It’s been a weekend for catching up: with friends, with laundry, with the kids, and with life at home. There was a marathon coffee date, a thrift store blitz and a trek to the grocery store. My craving for greens is escalating daily! That and my yearning for flowers and pots of bulbs.

There’s a pot of beef stew simmering, music in the kitchen, kids moving about, another cup of tea to be poured, menu-planning to be done for work and plans for a movie (hmmm .. which one, friends?) this evening.

Number Four and I had breakfast together—our late and leisurely weekend date. He requested his all-time favourite, pancakes. I’ve made friends with oatmeal again (we had a falling out in childhood) and lately, it’s been my go-to for breakfast. Today’s bowl was filled with warm apples, cinnamon and cardamom, toasted coconut, hemp hearts and maple syrup.

I hope you’re enjoying the remains of the weekend, wherever it may find you …
